Glorious Spring!

Spring has sprung, the bulbs are blooming & buds on the trees will be popping soon...allergy time for me & many others but it is so worth it to see nature come to life!

Baxter & Bridget love to play ball & destuff, stuffed animals but these days they are outdoor 'swamp' dogs. We've a small pond & a drain off stream that goes out to the ditch & they love being in the mucky water chasing one another, yuk! Lucky they have short hair & a good shake & the strong sunlight they dry off quickly.

Spring flowers from the Carroll Cottage garden!

I've been filling vases with these lovely happy yellow daffodils! We have spring!!

I had some girlfriends over for dinner last week & used this as the table decor, it was a hit!

However, the bigger hit was seeing how the stems stayed upright with the Lee Valley gadget I've had for years. It reminded my guest of her grandmother as she too used one for her flowers.

Definitely the wrong potato plant, this one is going up & staying sturdy with its thick stalk! lol
I wanted to replant the idea of the trailing potato plant in a window box, I'll be looking for something in the garden stores that are popping up everywhere!

I love this sweet wee garden gnome that the middle son Mitchell gave me this Mother's Day!
I knit Swedish Gnomes at Christmas & this one really look familiar!

He also came with a magical door for his new residence & a solar powered fountation sprayer was also in my package. All wonderful thoughtful summer accessories for me to create with. XO

This is a quilt that I made with my late girlfriend Liz Vicent, she wanted to learn how to paper piece & this was the quilt I taught her how to do that techique. I'm going to donate this quilt to the Baie-Stainte-Anne Community Center to get a defibulator if we cannot get the funding for one as there are ones around the community but not in the center. It is a very active center & I feel that there should be one under its roof. Time is so important with heart attacks!

I made this quilt in August 2008! I cannot believe that it has been a decade already...

It was made before I even thought of coming east to spend my summers. You can tell want I was dreaming of though!
Now someone else can enjoy this beautiful quilt & the community will benefit!

Karen Cole of Quiltingleah did all the custom quilting on it & what a beautiful job she did!

This will all happen early next year as the Golden Age is doing a draw on their quilt right now & will finish at their Christmas dinner with the draw.

                                                           My newest hooked rug project!

I've always had a passion for the Ford Mustang! I will be crocheting red/white/blue around the edge making this hooked logo the center design.

What is it with hooked rugs & felines? My three cats all take turns lying on this rug when it's not in the hoop to be hooked, maybe the warmth of the 100% Briggs & Little yarn?

                                                            Look who's home again!

I was hanging out the laundry this morning & noticed a bird on the top of the clothesline. I would hang & push the line out & the bird would stay on the line whilst it was moving. Then I reliezed that our owl residents had returned!

Rexton was not at all happy when I tried to remove her from the laundry room windowsill. She was enjoying all the spring movement & the morning sun. She has a perfect view of the owl residents too!

I've not been very productive with this project & with just two of the smaller blocks & one large block across the top to go, I really need to put it in gear & get this quilt off the design wall & ready to enjoy this summer! I want to do that bargello!!

I made myself a pair of garden overalls & didn't think it through... I'm 5'2" & even my girlfriend Mary Beth at 5'8" they were too big around her & the length too. Grrr I just loved this 100% cotton fabric & the carefree ease of an overall.
I had even sent away for the overall clips & they too looked great on the outfit.
Now to find the Cinderella to fit these!

The buds on the lilac trees are getting bigger & soon will be leaves, the the lovely lilacs will be here too! The grass in the background is another story... there are large dead areas of grass. Don't know what happened but we'll rake off the dead & reseed it with fingers crossed & hope for the best!

Parts of New Brunswick is not so fortunate this spring with all the flooding from the St. John River. Their summer will be one of recovery, I hope the government helps it goes easier for them.

I'm so happy to see the longer days & the warmer temps. Time to get my 1996 Mustang Cobra out!

I hope you too are feeling spring, wherever you are, spring really puts an extra bounce in your step.

Thank you for visiting & stop back again, Bill & Nicholas are coming home so there is a lot of outside work/photos to do this week.

Enjoy your long weekend!
Cynthia
