April Showers, The Snow Is Melting!

With all the April Showers the snow has started to melt & the sunny days are making you feel the warmth of the season here in the northeast.

This is a long blog...get a cuppa & settle in with my visual ramblings of the oasis I live in.

Ready? Here we go!

The Miramichi Bay opened up on Easter Day & what a difference to view moving blue water rather than the white winter tundra.

This was Easter morning & the water is there! So were many pooling puddles as the ground is still frozen & unable to absorb all the moisture.

Nature is so beautiful!

The fence was invisible & covered with snow this winter!

The new hydrangeas are at each end of the white fence, they're sure getting water, I hope they make it.

Bill trimmed the forsythia bushes & I brought the branches into the house to bloom!

Seeing the sunny yellow branches inside with the snow outside makes my heart sing!

And the yellow blooms were all out for Easter Day!

Can you tell that colour therapy is my happy place?!

Donald (my aka Donny) was with us for Easter & did some fantastic barbequing for us too!

Bill was happy to have someone play in the woods with him & Donny's help was welcomed with all the trees that are being removed for the bunkie to be built.

Our evenings are still damp & cool so the firebox is lit every night to take the chill out of the house.

Baxter will bark & whine until the fire is lit at night. He has become vocal & a bit demanding as he ages with us.

The forsythia branches bloomed first from the warmth of the firebox in the great room.

It was exciting to finally see the moving water!

The sounds & smells even change & spring has arrived!

The backyard grass does not look good but it too is still sleeping under patches of white blankets.

The Anniversary Garden is becoming visible too! And the buds on the lilacs are getting bigger!

The dining room view still has 'the drift' going across the lawn.

And the back deck is nearly usable too!

It is so beautiful as the seasons' change & you can feel & see them doing so.

This morning it is overcast as we're getting a snow/rain day but look...very little ice floating!

The potting shed walkway is being to join up to the Anniversary Garden. I had a peak into it last week & the mice have not even ventured inside. All traps still had seed all over them! It has been a strange winter with no mice anywhere?! Not even in the garage?!

I was outside this morning sweeping the dirt & gravel off the asphalt but the rain is coming to clean & the winds will pick up too!

Look at the Charlie Brown Christmas bulb that is still attached to the tree! And it has witnessed nasty winds from many storms! I do miss seeing Gnome Home & all the characters that live there.
The bulbs will be coming to life soon & so will the Gnome Home reappear!

Let's Go Inside!

I've been sewing but not finishing what I had started!
The Modernational Bear is on the to-do list this week as is the finishing of the borders on The Neighbourhood Quilt.

But how fun are these!!

I was watching a tutorial on the Puffy Easter bag & thought that Leslie would like one to put things in, so I did it in these pretty fabrics that don't scream Easter.

With the pleats, you can really fill the bag & not stress it!

It was where I put the big bag of Easter chocolates & the Big Bang pillowcases that I made for her & Nicholas!
I found this fabric online but it was just a remanent & just enough for two pillowcases!

Perfect for this couple! xXx

I love Easter colours!

I loved Leslie's bag so much, I made one for myself too, with my birthday fabric from Sandy last year!

It's for holding my knitting project, which I'm happy to say is now all knitted & sewn together & is at the stuffing stage. This is now the third one I've made, I gave the other two away & thought a knitted Boston terrier would be cute to have again. I need to keep my hands moving at night with arthritis.

How perfect is this bag?! You too can make one with the instructions on YouTube under Mom & Pop Quilt Shop - Puffy Easter Bag. It can be made 9" tall using 2- fat 1/4's & fabric yardage for the lining or Laura-Lynn made on 12" tall too!

This Forsythia ( I call them 'For Cynthia') is such a wonderful idea to spring forward spring colour indoors with no cost. I'll be doing this next year!

All I see is a sunny spring day!!

This is one of those 'finds' that you find once in a while!! It was only $4.00!!!

It is the New Brunswick Tartan & made right here in New Brunswick!! It was love at first sight!

I had enough 2 1/2" squares to make another pillow dog but not enough for the gusset to go around & used the Laura Ashley bed skirt fabric scraps.
Bill had a nice George Strait shirt but the tape scratched his neck. I removed it & used it as a collar on the wee dog. I love repurposing things, what fun!!
I must stay focused on finishing my projects that are 80% done already!

Bill is working in England, Switzerland, & Germany until the end of the month so my plan is to get a few things done & off to the longarm quilter!

It is so hard to stay focused as the season is changing & so are the colours!
So fresh & inviting!

These two are going in for their rabies/distemper shots this week.
I've been putting scarves on them only to come in with burrs attached to them! They love being in the woods with Bill but will have to settle with me until he returns. lol

And every day Rexton lets those two know that cats rule & dogs drool!
She is now 8 years old & rules the house!

This was taken at Bonar Law 2014, it was love at first sight with her!
Eight years ago, where does the time go?

Baxter's baby pic - February 2017

Bridget - February 2017
They were born on December 19th, 2016.

This trio keeps me busy & I could not imagine my house as a home without them!

Thank you for popping in & travelling around the yard with me!
I'm so excited about spring, it is next to fall, my favourite season!

If you can't be thankful for what you receive, be thankful for what you escape.

Have a wonderful week wherever you are!
Cynthia xXx
