10 Weeks Old Now

The pups are now 10 weeks old & they're still a lot of work. I have gone out a few times & gave them their crate time. I've also taken them into town, a 45 minute car ride & they were excellent backseat car riders.
I've put a metal, powder coated crate in the back seat & I call it their 'car seat' I then add their fleece blankets & a chew toy. They get comfortable,  curl up & go to sleep.
I picked up the mail today & surprise!! My free Parks Canada pass was in the box!
I highly suggest that you request yours too! It's free this year 2017, in celebration to Canada's 150th birthday & it covers anyone that is with you in the car! Just go on line & fill out the application.

I'm hoping that Bill & I get to see some of the local area parks. I've been training the pups for such a car ride. Next I'll work on walking them on their leashes, the collars going on/coming off are OK now, just waiting for the weather to break.

Look at all those Maritime Parks & historical sites to view!
There was also a package in the mail for Bridget & Baxter!
                                                            What pampered little pups!

Upon opening their package, I noticed it was gift wrapped too!!

Carefully positioned, were two squeaky, furry friends, for the pups to play with!
But wait --- there is more...

A hand written note from their Auntie Ann in London! Telling them to stay safe & warm by the fire.

Bridget & Baxter are going to love playing with these new toys! Thank you Auntie Ann, your the best! xoxo

What a difference the day makes, when the sun pours through the house. Jocelyne & Donny helped me by putting the rug back in the great room. Mr. Boots sure is happy that the carpet is back!

Thanks for popping by & stop back soon. I've more to say & show you but I'm off to bed. The puppies get up early & so do I.

Take care,
Cynthia

Puppies In A Tug - Thomas's Quilt

Gorgeous morning sky!
I took the puppies outside, & couldn't beliee how beautiful the morning sky was!

Just running back into the house, to get my camera, I lost the intensity of the colours.
Red sky in the morning...
I sure is nice going outside again, without the wind & snow!

This green tug, that I use to hold the pups toys, seems to be the new play thing for them! lol

They take turns going inside it to get their toys.

The cat nip rat seems to be one of their favourites. What is in that cat nip Ann?! lol

The daily routine is falling into place but still so much training to be done. I'm thankful that they sleep a lot, I need to recharge my batteries for them!

They are so sweet to watch & they're getting quite vocal, when playing & rough housing at playtime.

Sewing Projects~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I made a pair of crib sheets for Thomas, my exercise instructor, Donna's grandson. Then I thought he needed a quilt to coordinate with his sheets. There's no sewers in that family & every baby needs a quilt & I would personalize it, just for him! Donna gave me his name & I was off to thinking. How to  create his quilt!

This is the quilt side of baby Thomas's blanket, this side is the same as his crib sheets. He was born in the Chinese year of the monkey.
This was the inspiration fabric, monkey's playing Marco Polo, in the blue water. So cute!

This is the other side of his quilt, a 'big boy' version, with the Acadian star on blue & the maple leaf.
I did a quilt as you go with this blanket. It is joined together with one inch strips to the front & a folded 1 3/4" strip to the back & then hand sewn down. The flannel was quite heavy so I did not add any batting to it. The blanket will get softer with each washing.

When Thomas was born, I gifted him with a sock monkey, the Chinese year of 2016,  the monkey.
I could not resist making his monkey, a pair of  PJ's too! lol

Here is Catherine, Thomas mom & wee 3 month old Thomas. He usually has the biggest smile but was getting a little tired & it was getting near feeding time. He is such a beautiful happy baby. You just have to look at his mom to know where he got that from!

Thank you for stopping in to see what is going on with the puppies. Puppies & babies, such a great sweet way to start life. So precious!

Like I've always said 'This too will pass', so I'm savouring my time.
The weather is calling for some freezing rain. Slippery when wet! I never worried till I took that bad fall a couple of years ago. I just don't fall & heal like I use to. Joys of aging!!

Have a wonderful weekend... wherever you are!

Boston's First Outing

It was such a beautiful sunny day today & the high of 0, yes you can free the spring in the air, 27 days till spring!
I took the pups outside with leashes, attached to their collars ... what fun they had!

Baxter is wearing the blue  leash & Bridget has the red leash.

They both tried their skills at stair climbing. Bridget really surprised me with her skills, she's very agile & can jump! Baxter is like a bull in the china shop! lol

They both kept falling into the snow piled by the side of the stairs, then they'd eat white snow.

Bridget loved her outing & was up & down the front stairs!

She jumped, step by step, whilst Baxter watched her leash move with her.

They are now 9 weeks old & are getting to be very lively, when they are awake!

Bridget is really coming into her own. This little rut is so smart & fearless.

She was up & down the stairs several times, Baxter I think was just cheering her on! lol

                                                            She's so small & bright!
And back to the top of the porch!

When I took them for a walk, she was right with me. Baxter... well he so reminded me of Boris & I on our walks. He would just stop & dig his paws into the ground, not moving but being pulled on the leash. I hope he grows to like the movement of a brisk walk. Boris grew to love going for walks, he was so social with people!

The fresh air did Baxter in & Bridget was awake, so it was time for him to wake up too.

He enjoys his sleeping crate & there's times when he just won't get up!

I have them both sleep with a teddy bear & a blanket. Baxter just gets so cozy in his crate.

I gave up on him & went to Bridget's crate.

No worries there, I think she got excited listening to me coaching Baxter to get up & out! lol

And then she ran after the 21 lb Mr. Boots!

She would stop & fall to the ground, when Mr. Boots would turn to look at her.

Oh good, his head is up!

Bridget did not know what to do when the cat turned & faced her, she's use to do the chasing!

Bridget just went up & gave a big kiss to the cat! That was enough for Mr. Boots!

Mr. boots just turned & went for his lay down on my bed.
He's such an easy going feline, & lucky for those pups, he's so easy going!

A Very Sweet Surprise

My girlfriend, Jocelyn came by for a visit & to see the puppies & presented them each, with their own little jackets! The red one for Bridget & the grey one for Baxter, how sweet & thoughtful! Thank you Jocelyn, it will be a few months before they fit into them, they're so smart looking!

I love the stylish look of the ski coats, see the three zippered pockets? It's large enough to hold a small treat for them.

I'm going to have to take them downriver to Baie-Ste-Anne & walk them with these beauties on!
If I can only get Baxter to move with me on the leash! lol

The temperature is going up again tomorrow to +4  tomorrow & then +7C the next day!!
Maybe some snow tonight too.

Easter is coming...that means spring!

Thanks for stopping in. I blog more often when Bill is in China, he wants to see the puppies & what their up to. I tell him everyday but seeing them & their daily adjustment to home in Hardwicke, keeps him in tow that he's not missing their growth.

Those of you with warmer temps, I see, no, I feel how good it feels to have the sun on the face again.

The painters are coming tomorrow!

Baxter Wears Boots

The ice has left the trees but the snow drifts are still here & the soft aqua colour inside the folds, has been entertaining me. There's nothing I can do but take in the present moment & it's beautiful.

The drifts remind me of Emily Carr's trees, she made them so flowing with depth.

See the blue in the center? In all the years in SW Ontario, I never saw such purity in snow, mostly black, from the car exhaust.

So with so much snow outside, I played with the puppies inside!

Baxter had on his boots today, well really they were socks but I'm preparing him for his first pair of  boots. He did really well once he knew he could move in them!

The socks have rubber grippers on the bottom & he was unsure on the hardwood.

Boston's feet & legs are very sensitive to the cold, so i thought i would start to get him use to wearing something on his feet.

He was styling those socks!

The front one is twisted & you can see the rubber paw treads.

He had to sit down for a bit.

Come on Baxter, do some walking!

He's up...

He's walking!

No, he sits again!

Mr. Boots takes advantage of his unsure feelings, he  take a closer look.

What? What are looking at?!

The cats weren't sure what they were looking at but it was real good seeing Baxter unable to move in his new socks.
The cats looking at him, not for long, he started moving toward them...

And the cats left! LOL

And Bridget gets a new spring like collar!

I slid a fabric flower onto her green collar. I have them wear their collars for about 4 hours a day.
When walking time comes, the collar won't be a nuisance to them.

Her feet & legs are too small for her pink socks. She is so small, I meet her momma & she was very small too. Baxter is going to be the heavy weight one, just about the same as Boris, I think.

With each passing day, they sure are getting lively.
It will be a week tomorrow that Bill & I picked them up in that horrid snow storm. What a difference a week makes, it both the puppies & the weather!

Tomorrow the painters arrive to paint the great room & that will finish that room!

And then, when the weather allows, onto the outside railings!

Have a great week & enjoy the weather, wherever you are. Live in the moment because it will not last. At least that is what I keep telling myself!

I've been listening to YouTube, listening to all the Stuart McLean interviews & his Vinyl Cafe Shows. He was one person that was on my bucket list to see in person. It just never happened, my loss.
He had such a way of telling stories. A Wonderful Man! RIP, Stuart McLean.

More puppy posts to come...

Enjoy your life, it's the only one your getting!
