What A Week!

Things have slowed down in Eel River but here the excitement continues!
I went to put a bag of garbage into the wooden bin to find out that wasps had made nests!

This wooden garbage box looks innocent enough... who knew?!

The danger that would be hidden within?

Bill said he didn't notice the nests but the colour is so like the wood, I never saw them either.

It was built so fast, 'As busy as a bee'! I know that!!

One at each end? I thought that they were territorial, cozy place once the lid is down, now it's back to the function it was made for, our garbage bin. I really don't like getting the garbage picked up every two weeks in the summer. I'm sure the garbagemen don't like it either.
Here's how my day started last Wednesday...

I made my way down the lane with the car & my garbage bag in the back seat, I usually do that chore on my way out the lane. That morning it was to my exercise class.
When I opened the wooden bin I noticed that Bill had already placed two large bags in with one on its side I straightened it & went to the back seat of the car to retrieve the garbage bag to be put in.
I placed it in & was swarmed by wasps before I knew what was happening!! I pushed them off my arms & hands & thank heavens I leave the drivers door open & ran for my life!
Yes, I got several stings & headed back to the house for the Benadryl spray.
Later that afternoon Francis, our contractor, came & sprayed them dead! Thank you, Francis!!
Thank goodness I'm not allergic to bee stings!

Congratulations Bill!

Bill was in his Brampton apartment when I told him I picked up his parcel at Canada Post. 'What parcel, open it.' So I did & to our surprise, it was from Air Canada. Very elegant box!

It was to congratulate him on traveling 1 million miles on Air Canada!

Wow, I knew he traveled a lot & it's a joke with the kids with 'Where in the world is our dad this week?'
Under that velvet shelf was another surprise! A steel Air Canada miniature plane with a stand for it with ...
                                                           His name engraved on it!

This will go into his office when he returns home but first, from Toronto he'll travel to Vancouver BC, then to China, then home again in about 2 weeks.

I don't know how he does what he does & I remember my days of travel with him doing the England trips & how it would take me three days to collect me, myself, & I from the jetlag. China is a much more time challenge.

                                                 Congratulations Bill, you deserve it!

My Kyrotime

The eagle is now ready to have the black back foil added to it. I really enjoyed this, the eyes were the hardest cut!

And speaking of cuts... this is a sneak peak of the bargello that I cut out!

It's done in the nautical Moda, Ahoy Maties, the challenge was to find the dark red. I had the red Kona but not the dark red. After a trip with Marva to Nadine's in Neguac, I thought  I had found & purchased the dark red needed only to find out that it was the same shade of red I was already using. Grrr...
I found a fat 1/4 & scrap in my stash that was just enough. Thank you to my guardian angel for helping me find just what was needed. Blest for sure!

Have a wonderful cool weekend wherever you are. We are still in a heatwave & I'm thankful for the A/C that was installed with the furnace. My furry kids are too!
Thanks for popping in for a visit!

Eel River's Slow Week

The Eel River Apartment did not have much done this week as it was the plumber's time & he was on a family holiday. It was a very hot humid week here & the workers would have cooked in the heat.
Monday will be a productive one.

The foundation walls have been backfilled & are now ready for the plumbing to be installed.

Someone has marked off the hallway area & thin red sticks have been positioned too.
All ready for Monday!

Next Friday will show a productive week... see you then!

It's A Heatwave!

The weather is so summer & right now we're in a heatwave! I will cherish this memory in February when I can no longer see out my main-floor windows. Oh, how I love seasons & all the change that comes with them. It is so beautiful here at the shore in the summer.

Last week we were in the front yard, this week we will take in the backyard. The grass has turned a hay like gold with the lack of rain but I know it will return when it gets a good soaking from the rainfall & it's been forecasted for tomorrow.

See the sandy soil through the dry grass? Well, you should see the dust fly when the Boston's are running through it to chase their ball!

I never tire of the different shades of blue & green as summer has now announced itself!
Usually, always there is a cool breeze that comes of the water, winds are from the SW these days are warm ones. Yes, summer breeze!

Bill installed two solar lights on the outside ends of the arbor in the Anniversary Garden.
The lights can be viewed from the large great room window at night.

A peek of Bay du Vin Island through the backyard evergreens.

The view from the west side of the back deck.
                                                                            Such a summer day today!
Summer Finds!
Bill was working hard in the garden to get more stone edging done & when I walked by I saw that he had sweat in the shape of a heart! I ran for my camera & got these photos!

It shows better with his arms down, he cast a shadow on the heart but you can still see the silhouette!

Later that day we were coming up the lane & he told me of the wild raspberry & strawberry bushes he saw whilst mowing the edges. So he stopped his truck to show me. I pulled my straw hat off &  started collecting berries with him.

We gathered up a cup before being defeated by the mosquitoes & later had them with vanilla yogurt ice cream with chocolate sauce. Mmmm the taste of summer!

Bill also found this robin eggshell, what a wonderful vintage colour! So true that you can't go wrong with the colour of nature! I'm inspired to paint an old wooden chair with this colour pigment!

Bill & I were in Winner's when I saw these two Colin & Justin designer pillows on sale! They reverse to the opposite colours of red/white & the fabric is a soft knit. They can be used year long & especially at Christmas with a green holly berry sleeve wrapped around them.
And those were my wonderful summer finds!

Black & White Pets

Baxter Loree having a quiet moment in the sunporch.

Bridget Loree after a 'Whiskers & Nails' session. She fights the whole ordeal & I see a whisker that was missed! I've always trimmed & groomed my Bostons as a Boston with whiskers looks like a seal to me & takes away from their lovely facial markings.

Baxter Loree showing his lovely facial profile, he is so easy to do grooming with.

The heat tires the Boston's so I run them early in the morning & later in the evening.

Both enjoy having the old sectional in the sunporch, it is a perfect size for that area.

Rexton loves her cat tower & know that she's 'Home Free' from the Boston's! lol

As she relaxes the Bridget & Baxter have a romp in the room!

Bridget tries to get Baxter to chase her.

                                                                    And the chase is on!

Terriers have bursts of energy & then they calm down, they love being outside with us too.

Creative Mediums

I'm now finished & pleased with this Mustang rug.

On the back, I crocheted a circle that was then glued in place under the hooked area that would fall through as it was not thick enough to stay up. This modification worked, mindsight for the next rug!

This wedding gift is now quilted & bound. Only the seashell buttons to embellish it with now.

I love the William Morris fabric collection & had such fun making it. I think the buttons will add some glitz to it & how appropriate for this wedding was a destination wedding in Jamacia & took place on the beach last May! I know it is months late but will surprise them when they get it in the mail!

Kyro Stained Glass - Opening November 2018

Nicholas, Leslie, & Bill have been organizing the glass area for me & it is looking great!

The shelves are filling with glass & many more bins are to be delivered from the storage at the shop.
Bill laughs at me as I have the creative flair & I'm sidetracked by the beauty of the glass.

I just needed to play with it & this eagle head just spoke to me! lol
A few more pieces to cut & then I can grind them into place. I'm using black backed foil as I want to use black patina on the soldered joints.

This glass was used for the sky background that is numbered 1-4.

I made this for Nick's birthday a few years back & used the colours for the glass eagle.

From rug hooking to sewing, to stain glass, the one thing in common that I adore is colour & design!

Thank you for stopping in on this hot beautiful summer day. I hope you too are enjoying summer as I am here on the northeast Acadian coastline. As we all know that this too will pass.

Enjoy your moments!

Summer with Bridget & Baxter

Summer has finally found us here in northern New Brunswick & that means hot & humid days.
Boston Terriers do not do this weather well as their short snouts don't allow proper breathing for them to cool themselves. So it is into their pool or for a swim in Miramichi Bay.

Bridget in the pool, trying out her life jacket from last year. She didn't do a lot of grow, it fit!

Baxter has his new life jacket on, he did do a lot of growing & is 27 pounds now!

Bridget loves to play catch with a stick or a ball.

Baxter loves the water this year, Bridget is much timider when it comes to getting wet.

Baxter will swim to get the stick, Bridget waits for him to bring it to her.

She will not go out any further if she feels her feet won't touch.

I cannot get this video to work on my blog. Grrr

Again, I forgot that there was no camera card in my camera so all these photos & videos are from Bill's camera. Thank you, Bill, for capturing the Boston's first beach swim this year.

                                                        Baxter chasing after the stick.

They sure enjoyed their time on the beach! And so did we till the flies started biting us & it was back home for all of us! We'll do it again tomorrow!

Thank you for visiting & do come back again!
Have a wonderful safe summer weekend & have patience on the road with all those vacationing with their RV's or are in a strange surrounding away from home. The summer season is such a short one!
