Very Sad Day

It is a very sad day today, Diesel,  8 years old,

Siberian Husky, grand-puppy, has passed away.

Mitchell called today, and say "Diesel was now with Boris."
Boris was my beloved 11 year old, Boston Terrier that passed away February 2016.

Boris & Diesel at the Carroll Cottage 2012.

Diesel was himself this Canada Day. Gorgeous, beautiful Diesel!

Mitchell had just found out yesterday, through an x-ray & an ultrasound,  that Diesel had cancer in the prostate, kidneys, & his lungs were full of spots. And today he passed away.

Mitchell, Nicole, & Lois,  are taking him to Elnora, their weekend getaway home, for his burial.

I know I can't be there, I asked for Diesel to be wrapped in the quilt I made him several years ago.
That way, I know he will be wrapped with my love... forever.

He was such a beautiful dog with a beautiful loving manner to him.
He will be missed by many of those that loved him, such a soft soul.

Louis, his daily partner, is going to miss him like crazy. These two have been inseparable for nearly three years.

Nicole, Nicholas, & the furry family! It was a wonderful summer for all!

My last time with Diesel, wonderful surprise to see all the Alberta family.
I wish I would have changed my camera lens, fuzzy photo.

Some Photos Of Diesel Memories

Christmas 2014

The house in Elnora that Christmas. The window looks like a painting with all the beautiful trees.
It will be that that yard, that Diesel has gone to rest in peace.

The cat angel on top of the tree is made of muslin & then I needle punched Diesel's hair into the cat, creating a very soft cat!

That Christmas in 2014, we drove to Canmore & Diesel fell asleep, sitting up! lol

                                                             Always enjoying the truck ride!
I loved his face markings!

2012 - Cozy in the cottage!

My heart goes out to this family unit as they mourn the loss of their beloved Diesel.
My love goes out to you.

Now, Diesel looks after my little man, Boris Loree.

Rest In Peace
Wrapped in the love of the quilt I made you Diesel.
Grandma's going to miss you. XO

Early Birthday SURPRISE!!!

Bill & Nicholas were busy on Sunday, doing final touches to a surprise & let me tell you... it was a surprise! birthday party with a some of my friends & neighbours.

Bill took me to the Carroll Cottage to go over the stained glass that was to be moved & when we returned, our parking lot was filled with cars??!
''Oh Bill'' I said, ''My hair is styled in pigtails!", he smiled & told me to go in.

What a wonderful surprise it was!

Bill & Nicholas arrived late Friday night & Saturday morning started putting a wall around the front-yard garden. What I didn't know is that they wanted the steps installed by Sunday afternoon, for the surprise party! Eager little beavers! lol

They took advantage of the front steps being out of the way & finished the corners beautifully!

It is shown at two stones high, one more layer would be added & the flat tops will be ordered.

Surprise, surprise!
Nick was creative in ordering the DQ icecream cake. One said 'Happy 30th Birthday' & the other said 'Happy +30th Birthday'.

The cakes were blue & mauves, very nice choice too Nicholas! XO

Elizabeth, Heather, Jocelyne, Karen, myself, Margie, & Valma, we all had a good laugh at surprising me! Such good friends through my nine years of being here!

And on the otherside of the kitchen island was my 'Friends in low places!' a Garth Brooks song that makes me laugh. lol
Dellie(Margie's husband), Jay(Elizabeth's husband) & Donny(Jocelyn's husband), I wanted to move around & have a photo of this party for prosperity. lol

And in the great room was Pete(Valma's husband), Rexton in her perch, Ross, Bill, & Doug(Karen's husband). Bill was so happy that the get together party,  was a surprise to me. And it was!! XO

Myself, with Nicholas, one of the masterminds of this day!

Bill & I, he was the head mastermind of the day! XO

It was a wonderful Sunday afternoon & very secretive by all! Thank you, for this memory!!

And with that memory is a funny one that I mentioned at breakfast that made both Bill & Nick laugh.
I said, "See this shirt I'm wearing, I wore it on my 40th Birthday, & I still have & love it!"

Well, here's that picture of my 40th Birthday! Some things just never really change. Though wearing that shirt 20 years later, I still have the love in my heart for the man I married 30 years ago! XO

As I cut my cake this year, I didn't need a candle to wish by... all my wishes have come true!!
Thank you also for those that snail mailed me cards from London!  Wish you were here! XO

Some sewing this week~~~~~~~~~~~~~`

I made a pillow to match the quilt, & the table topper on the back of the deacon's bench.

I'm having a hard time with Bridget-Loree, she feels she has to teeth on nylon zippers. That is the way I close the bottom of my pillows. I'm hoping this one stays together!

Nicholas left early this morning for Toronto, it was raining with thunder & lightening, making me fretful of his trip. He made it to Grand Falls but not without dodging coyotes.
He should be home by supper time. It's quite the drive back & forth with all the road construction.
We all say there are only two seasons, Construction & Winter!

This has been a great week, one I will not forget! Thank you for stopping by for a visit & allowing me to share my precious memories with you!

Have a great week & Happy Labour Day!

August is Ending...

This has been the fastest month this year!
I've had many visitors come & view the water from the kitchen window or their bedroom window & watch many a beautiful sunset over Bay du Vin Island.

This week was for the birds, many ducks were in the water, many, many ducks. I have never seen so many ducks.
Then the Canadian geese were parked out in the backyard for a few hours.
The upright goose always stayed in that position whilst the others pecked away.

I was hoping that they were not feasting on the grass seed!

Whatever it was they were enjoying it!

                                                                           Attention!

Then they all nestled in for an afternoon rest.

Then these fast moving birds, I think they were Sandpipers, joined in by the large evergreen.

It was hard to get a good photo of them as they were moving very quickly!

So that was the wildlife in the backyard this week!

Before my girlfriend Sandy left, she gave me this handmade wrought iron orb! A couple of months ago, my girlfriend Elizabeth texted me a photo of it from the new antique shop that had opened in Chatham. She said it made her think of me! Oh, how my girlfriends know my style!!

It is a twelve candle orb & will hang in the sun porch from a pulley. I saw Sarah Richardson do that in one of her shows. Mine will be battery operated candles, maybe IKEA votives on chilly fall nights.

It has such detail & will hang lowered from a steel hanger to the ceiling. Photos to follow after Bill's visit next week.

The detailing is beautiful & the hit of green on the leaves really brings it to life. Thank you, Sandy!
It was an early birthday present as in two weeks I am turning the big 6-0! Wow, where has time gone?!! I've sure been blessed with good friends along the way!

Kathleen, a neighbouring girlfriend, asked if I wanted to go to the Beaverbrook Garage Sale, it was not what we thought, however, I did come away with a few finds.

This embossed tin really caught my eye at $5, the vendor then asked if I would be more interested in it for $3?
It came home with me. :-)

Then I spied this vintage flannel with the horses that made me think of the Alberta son, there were 2 yards of it & the other cotton fabric made me think of the Civil War prints. Kathleen gave the man $1 & both were now mine!  She sure knows how to haggle a good price! Thank you, Kathleen!

My handsome middle-son Mitchell a photo in 2012 at the Calgary Airport, when I went to visit him for the first time. Yes, the flannel horse fabric,  made me think of the Alberta bound boy of mine!

Another Birthday Surprise!
Kathleen presented me with this antique hardcover story book. It is a true story of a Welsh girl & how the Bible Society began, nearly 200 years ago!

This is the 1924 version of the book & I have been enjoying reading it & hope to have it finished by my birthday! Thank you again, Kathleen, a very unique thoughtful, gift indeed!

Bridget & Baxter the Boston Terriers

These two play fight with each other & are very noisy doing so!

They roll & grab & play...

Tug of war with bones...

 And bite one another...

Then everything stops & they look...

And see Mr. Boots! They are so afraid of this cat & the cat knows a preys on them. I sing the Dr. Suess song, 'You're a mean one, Mr. Boots, you're lurking in the halls, you're preying on young puppies, they are terrified of you! Mr. Boots... I need more lyrics lol
This 22-pound cat rules the puppies, especially Bridget.

Alone Time~~~~~~~~~~~

With everyone gone, my evenings are quiet so I have been knitting my Christmas Swedish Gnomes.
I did the large one this week & hope to start the medium one soon.

I also did some sewing & creating with four orphan blocks left over from the Crazy Stars Quilt that I did with my girlfriend Deb. I need a small quilt on the back of the deacon's bench as the pups stand on the back to look in the yard.

I was auditioning it over the summer Lone Star Quilt.

I'm going to put a 2 1/2" finished border around the outside with some Primitive Gatherings fabric that is on the right of the photo.

I just love Beth's Lone Star Quilt on the back & the other part is viewed when you're in the yard!
I use it in the summer as it enhances the blue & white dishes in the kitchen/dining area.

Well, thank you, for stopping by for a visit. Don't be shy & stop by again to see what is going on in the yard or just on the northeastern coast of the Atlantic. Fall is just around the corner for us!

The season of colour & my favourite time of year is coming!

Take Care,
And smile, it's contagious!
